Jason X
Plot:
Jason is trapped by a group of scientists in the present day (supposedly 2008) and frozen because the researchers basically don’t know what to do with him. Hundreds of years later, a space ship finds Jason, as well as a human frozen at the same time and brings them back to the ship. The girl (Rowan) thaws out and immediately warns the group of Jason’s abilities, but they don’t believe her. Of course it only takes about three minutes of thawing out for Jason to go on a mad killing frenzy.
Trivia:
Jason X was originally written and made when it became too difficult for the production company to get things moving on Freddy Vs. Jason.
Horror connections: Kane Hodder (Hatchet 1-3, Frozen, 2001 Maniacs, The Devil’s Rejects, etc.).
Thoughts:
It’s funny because I actually saw Jason X in the theater, but only remember a few scenes. It wasn’t until I started watching it this time that I remembered, “oh yeah, this is the one in space.” The whole idea of the movie is so ridiculously that it kind of makes my head hurt. There are a few scenes that stick out, but overall it’s nothing to write home about. I’m not at all surprised that this movie made less money than any others in the franchise.
