Dreamcatcher
Plot:
Four old friends: Henry, Beaver, Pete and Jonesy are linked to a connection they share with another friend. Duddits is a mentally retarded boy that they helped out of a tough situation as kids and it bonded them together. After a bad year, the four guys reunite for a hunting trip together. The usual trip takes a dark turn when they discover people in the woods and learn of a possible alien invasion. It doesn’t take long for the boys to realize that the key to their salvation may lay in the boy they helped all those years ago.
Trivia:
Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name.
Horror movie connections: Thomas Jane (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Tripper, The Mist), Donnie Wahlberg (The Sixth Sense, Saw 2-4) and Timothy Olyphant (Scream 2, A Perfect Getaway, The Crazies).
Thoughts:
I’m kind of torn on this movie because I read the book (several times) and read it fairly recently. I’ll think of something really cool and then have to stop because I remember that the scene I’m thinking of actually came from the book. Plus I’m not too fond of the whole movie anyway. In my mind, I always think that the movie ran too long, but when I watched it this time, I realized that it isn’t necessarily long, it just feels that way.
