Plot:
A random New Year’s Eve party gets extreme when a group of party goers receive text message invites to a better party. The guests leave the party in the skyscraper and head to a lower floor downstairs. They find a mock tea party setup, including name tags with degrading names and a scavenger hunt promising a large prize at the end. Among the group is a couple who seemingly hate each other, a big deal cooking show host, a one-hit wonder with eyes for the cook, a celebrity publicist and a man who brings an uninvited guest to the party. Once the group separates, things take a dark turn and people start dying. Somehow the events are all tied together.
Trivia:
One of the earlier Dimension Extreme horror flicks.
Thoughts:
I’ve heard some bad things about Steel Trap, but that hasn’t stopped me from thoroughly enjoying it. I first saw it a few years ago and had it on my mental list of movies I wanted to pick up, but unfortunately haven’t come across it at a good price. When I found it for $2 at my local used movie store, I couldn’t pass it up. Steel Trap does have some slow parts, but it kept me fairly entertained. It was one of the few Dimension Extreme movies that lived up to the hype on the back of the box. Then again, maybe that isn’t saying a whole lot.
